Craftsmanship Giveaway Winner
Meet Bryan, winner of our first Jewellery Craftsmanship Giveaway that took place Fall of last year. Bryan won a grand prize of $10,000HKD worth of HJI's jewellery workshop-based courses after he was randomly selected from all entries received from our Instagram Craftsmanship Giveaway. We caught up with Bryan and took a sneak peek as he brushes up and finishes one of his handcrafted jewellery pieces, a Cuban link bracelet.

Bryan shares insight into his experience at HJI in our Behind the Scenes Interview:
What courses are you taking at HJI?
I am currently taking the Level 2 - Beginner Jewellery Making Course.
Do you have any background in design or jewellery craftsmanship?
I am an environment and interior design student from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I have some experience with crafting and DIY, but not in jewellery.
What are you currently making in your course?
I am currently making a Cuban link bracelet.
What do you enjoy most about making jewellery?
I enjoy learning and doing the whole process of making jewellery from a piece of raw material to a finished piece of jewellery.
What are some of the most valuable techniques you have learned?
I think the most valuable technique I have learned in the course is how to solder. Since I am making a bracelet, I have to solder each individual ring together, which gave me a lot of chances to practice.
Why would you recommend others to learn jewellery craftsmanship?
I would recommend others to take jewellery courses because it is so different compared to woodcraft or leather making lessons. Jewellery lessons are much more intricate.
Has learning jewellery craftsmanship inspired you to be more creative?
I think learning jewellery craftsmanship allowed me to be more aware of the fabrication process and the hard work put into handmade products. I would never have imagined I would be able to take the jewellery classes at HJI.
