Meet Annie Tang, a recent graduate from HJI’s Central Saint Martins (CSM) Short Course Jewellery Programme. Having recently completed her Central Saint Martins (CSM) Short Course and currently attending the HJI Jewellery Making Ultimate Programme, Annie sat down with us to tell us about her journey, her inspirations and her recent experience with the year-long CSM course at HJI.

The collaboration with Central Saint Martins introduces a whole new creative dimension.
Our Summer School Programme is designed to take beginners through to advanced level in only 8 weeks. An intense course made up of 64 sessions or 160 hours, the beauty of this course at Hatton Jewellery Institute is the flexibility of choosing to complete the course in 8 weeks flat or opt for a more flexible rolling schedule to suit your diary.
Considered a ‘dying art’, the number of people practising the craft of hand engraving is falling, where much of the engraving today is done with lasers directed by software. However using machines pre-set with designs don’t quite scribe the way humans do. With shallow cuts, the result is far less vivid than the human hand armed with the right engraving tools.
