ABOUT RURIKO - Goldsmith & Jewellery Instructor

Ruriko found beauty, curiosity and happiness in all forms of art from an early age, as she spent her childhood and young adulthood in Japan. Her passion for creating art lead her into a career as a recognized international jewellery designer and goldsmith, and, one of HJI’s esteemed jewellery instructors.

Ruriko trained at the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewellery in Tokyo, Japan, and since had been invited to exhibit her work in over 10 global jewellery exhibitions. She worked as a goldsmith and bespoke jewellery designer in the UK for over ten years before residing in Hong Kong in 2009. In 2013, Ruriko established Pixelry, a contemporary jewellery brand that has a spirit of Japanese craft and soul for beauty. While her pieces are inspired by nature, they present elements of organic forms and shapes, and embody the origins of oriental beauty.  “I like to create shapes that tickle human memory. My wish is that my jewellery pieces remain unforgettable in people’s memories.”

A goldsmith by heart, Ruriko also is an avid learner of traditional Japanese Inlay, Zougan, and Chokin art. She believes that “the best tools are your hands… that of which connects directly to your heart.”  Ruriko finds pure joy in teaching when she unleashes a hidden talent from each of her students. Ruriko teaches all of our comprehensive jewellery making courses and tailor-made jewellery making private lessons.
