The Summer months are nearing and our heads are in our spin organising the months ahead. With holidays booked and a few weeks to spare, we know you’re eager for personal growth and a productive few months.

Ten years ago, Nathalie Melville, a Central Saint Martins alumni established Hatton Studios, a community and creative co-working space for professional jewellers and students. The school has since evolved and through its achievements and success moved to a larger location in Sheung Wan re-establishing itself as Hatton Jewellery Institute (HJI). At HJI, we believe in making the fine jewellery industry more accessible and more sustainable while inspiring originality and creativity and so, HJI has become the only dedicated space in Hong Kong with a focus on technical training, equipping the next generation of craftsmen and women with traditional skills.

Our Summer School Programme is designed to take beginners through to advanced level in only 8 weeks. An intense course made up of 64 sessions or 160 hours, the beauty of this course at Hatton Jewellery Institute is the flexibility of choosing to complete the course in 8 weeks flat or opt for a more flexible rolling schedule to suit your diary.

The Jewellery Making Summer School Programme encompasses all aspects of jewellery making from an introduction to jewellery making and traditional craftsmanship including saw piercing, soldering, filing and finishing techniques through to wax carving and gem setting.

This is the ideal opportunity to develop silversmithing techniques used by the professionals, offering a comfortable space to discover your own creative potential. No previous experience is required!

Students are taught to fully understand fine metals and how to fabricate a jewellery piece from beginning to end. At Hatton Jewellery Institute, we are the only dedicated jewellery space focusing on technical training with all the tools and equipment you’ll need.

Learn how to safely melt and pour metal, make wire tubes and solder. Become an expert in complex joints and forms like hinging riveting. Explore the use of the rolling mill and draw bench to make your own silver in your preferred shapes and sizes. Every student is encouraged to create more elaborate designs and challenge themselves both creatively and technically.
