HJI’s Jewellery Making Ultimate Programme is a comprehensive course designed to take beginners to advanced level, or for those with experience to extend technical skills in craftsmanship.
The Programme encompasses all aspects of jewellery making from saw piercing, soldering, filing and finishing techniques to wax carving and gem setting. Students are taught to fully understand fine metals and how to fabricate a jewellery piece from beginning to end.

Level 1 - Learning the core skills
Introduction to Jewellery Making techniques: saw piercing, soldering, filing and finishing
Draw down silver from bullion to wire
Behind the heat: Flame science
Technical Project: Create a Signature curb link chain
Learn silver melting process, recycling of metals, and understand alloys

Level 2 - Technical development
Refining existing techniques
Use more complex forms including hinging, riveting or multiple joints
Creative Project: Create piece using advanced jewellery techniques
Technical Project: Create a Signature hinged locket
Learn to use the rolling mill to roll your own silver sheet

LEVEL 3 - Wax carving
Discover all aspects of wax carving
Design, carve and cast a sculptural form – exploring the 3D capability of wax
Practice different creativity approaches, develop your own style and techniques

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
No previous experience required.

CLASS SCHEDULE:
All worksop courses* operate on a rolling schedule, meaning you can start your course at any time!
You may book your classes in advance and choose to attend any session from our 11 per week, (2 per day weekly plus Saturday afternoons).
The flexibility allows you to complete the Ultimate Programme at your own pace and is designed to complete the course in as little as eight full-time, immersive weeks. Please note the course has an 18 month completion date, (applicable for part time students).

CLASS SCHEDULE:
All courses are on a rolling schedule. Students can choose to start their course from Monday to Saturday and can combine evening and day classes.
CANCELLATION AND REBOOKING POLICY:
Hatton Jewellery Institute operates a 24-hour cancellation policy for all classes. Late cancellation will result in forfeiting of class or a re-booking fee.
