The Ultimate Programme + Gem Series takes HJI's signature course, The Ultimate Programme, to the next level by adding 6 additional gem-setting techniques. This course includes tube setting, collect setting and crown setting, tension setting, bezel setting (faceted stone) and prong setting from the square rod, providing students with a comprehensive education in both jewellery making and gem-setting.

The Ultimate Programme itself is a comprehensive and inclusive course that covers all aspects of jewellery making in a more in-depth approach. Students will gain a complete understanding of fine metals and learn how to fabricate a piece from beginning to end. This includes melting and pouring metal, rolling and making wire and tubes, mastering soldering techniques, and the design process. Students have the freedom to choose their own schedule to suit their needs and will have more time to elaborate on their designs and complete their pieces, making for a fun and relaxed learning experience.

With the addition of the Gem Series, students will also learn 6 additional gem-setting techniques, providing them with the knowledge and skills to create truly stunning pieces of jewellery. This course is perfect for both beginners and experienced jewellers who want to take their skills to the next level and learn a variety of gem-setting techniques.

COursE OUTLINE:

Level 1

• Introduction to Jewellery Making techniques: saw piercing, soldering, filing and finishing

• Draw down silver from bullion to wire

• Learn behind the heat: Flame science

• Technical Project: Create a Signature curb link chain

• Learn silver melting process, recycling of metals, and understand alloys
  

LEVEL 2

• Intermediate level

• Refining existing techniques

• Use more complex forms including hinging, riveting or multiple joints

• Creative Project: Create piece using advanced jewellery techniques

• Technical Project: Create a Signature hinged locket

• Learn to use the rolling mill to roll your own silver sheet
  

LEVEL 3

• Specialist techniques

• Discover all aspects of wax carving

• Design, carve and cast a sculptural form – exploring the 3D capability of wax

• Practice different creativity approaches, develop your own style and techniques
  

LEVEL 4

• Advanced techniques

• Learn primary gem setting techniques: Bezel Setting, Claw Setting, & Flush Setting

• Choice of properties of gems

Gem series

• More advanced techniques in gem setting: Tube Setting, Collet Setting

CLASS SCHEDULE:

All courses operate on a rolling schedule. You may book your classes in advance and choose to attend any session from the listed Course Schedule.

The flexibility of the rolling schedule allows you to complete the Ultimate Programme at your own pace and is designed to complete the course as early as eight full immersive weeks.

CLASS SCHEDULE:

All courses are on a rolling schedule. Students can choose to start their course from Monday to Saturday and can combine evening and day classes.

CANCELLATION AND REBOOKING POLICY:

Hatton Jewellery Institute operates a 48-hour cancellation policy for all classes. Late cancellation will result in forfeiting of class or a re-booking fee.
